GPS watch, The new global positioning navigation on the block

It’s no secret: people always want more and more features in the smallest possible space… and that’s why the GPS watch was invented. After the famous calculator watch, the fabulous TV remote watch – not to mention the actual TV watch – now it’s the time to know exactly where you stand (literally) with a GPS watch.

Though it really works (as you’d might expect, a non-working GPS unit wouldn’t have that much success) it still remains a “gadget” for the most part. For starters, GPS’s are still quite power hungry – if you keep it on, it will drain its batteries in just a few hours. Depending on your use, that might be enough; but more often than not, it won’t. On the bright side, these gps watches come with two different battery compartments. Running out of juice on your GPS unit won’t keep you from telling the time.

With the continuous technical advances in electronics, we might not be that far from a real and useful GPS watch. Once we get better mileage out of it, I’m sure it will attract a lot more people. Hikers and bikers, for instance, wouldn’t mind replacing their bigger handheld GPS units for these smaller versions. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait long.
