GARMIN GPSmap 276C GPS Receiver/Review

 The GARMIN GPSmap 276C GPS Receiver is right in place and that home whether it's on your boat or on the dash of your car. This portable GPS unit features a bright color TFT that is very easy to read in sunlight. For navigation on land the capability of auto routing will allow you to choose a destination and give you turned I turn directions. When you ask for guidance the 276 GPS receiver gives it to you right away. By using the optional 12 V/speaker cable the GPSMAP 276C will guide you on how much you need to turn and how much further you need to go.

The GPSMAP 276C is a variable color chart plotter and automobile navigator which gives you the added feature of a readable sunlight 256 color TFT display and a built-in auto routing-based map that will give you all the roots of major intersections and highways. In addition to built-in basemap detail, the GPSMAP 276C accepts data from MapSource CD-ROMs, including BlueChart for offshore detail, Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots for detail of selected inland lakes, and City Select for street-level maps.

On water, the GPSMAP 276C is a dependable color chartplotter with built-in basemap enhanced by Garmin's marine cartography. For extra-precise navigation, the 276C has a Course Deviation Indicator (CDI) - a feature normally found on aircraft, but equally practical for the marine environment. The 276C also supports external NMEA sources for water depth, water temperature, and water speed through two serial interfaces. The 276C is compatible with BlueChart maps, which add extra detail when you're out on the seas.

It also accepts optional MapSource data cards, so you can add other types of map data easily. For convenience and easy map transfer, you can connect the GPSMAP 276C to your computer with the included USB cable. NMEA 0183 input/output Maps & Memory - Basemap with the ability to add maps through Garmin data cards 3000.

Excelent equipment 

This GPS covered my expectations and much much more. It has two modes of operation (Car or Boat) and with the optional memory module, can load maps and POIs for a maximum experience.

My fifth Garmin GPS

Yep 5. GPS2, 3, 3+, 5 and now a 276. It would seem I am a good customer. I ride ATVs all over the back country of the west. Each GPS I have owned has been an improvement over the last. I wouldn't leave home without one. The 276C is great. I love the large color screen and being able to load almost all of the Topo maps I will ever need in it. I have found that the marine contrast/color setting works best in the bright sun. It could be brighter but I works OK. The contrast/color of the bread crumb trail is excellent, it really stands out well. I like being able to scale back the geo-clutter with 1 button. Overall I am very happy with my new GPS. I'm sure it and I will have many great rides. Thanks Garmin. I'll be back.
